Photo: One of the many awesome photos my dear friend took of the boys last weekend! There are too many good ones, but I’ve gotta only choose a few for the Christmas card! I think this one might end up in the Christmas letter instead… we’ll see…

It is, for reals, the running of the bulls out there, Dear Reader! I mean people are out and commerce is happening and people are gettin’ ish done out there!

And I’m one of them.

So if you were one of the three girls I ran over with my cart at Wegman’s this morning because you were on your cellphone and walkin’ slow in the baking aisle, I’m sorry (not sorry).

Seriously though, new rule: if it’s Thanksgiving time and it’s a) your first time ever in a grocery store or b) time to call your bff about your last Tinder hookup, please don’t show up. Or, if you do, stay to the damn right. Or come with a friend. Or something. Just stay out of a sista’s way because I will clip your little ankle with my cart. Your cute little boots will not protect you, either!

Ok… I’m not that violent… but I was really thinking about it.

Anyway, it doesn’t really matter because I’M DONE!! WOO HOO! I made The Husband go get me some local odds and ends–special breakfast sausage you can only get at our favorite farm, some beer and hard cider to help us stay sane with these two boys, get some other random things… and then today, I did the heavy lifting: Wegman’s, 9:30am, shopping list a mile long.

And I really must say, I was surprised: it was fully stocked, it wasn’t too crowded, the staff was happy to be there and, with a few coupons plus my membership card, I was able to get out of there for $60 less than I thought I was going to pay.

So now I get to sit back, relax and… get to work! I’m prepping cinnabuns for me and friends, and Parkerhouse Rolls for friends to take to their various Thanksgiving gatherings. Plus a pound cake for me, because my husband requested Pecan Pie and I hate Pecan Pie! Oh yeah, and there is a duck to roast on Thursday!

I love this time of year. I love the hunt for the best deals, I love finding little things that I know will make family and friends happy, I love the cooking so much… this is my jam! All I want to do for the next week is be in this house, cooking great food, snuggling with my boys, watching movies on demand with my husband, drinking a little bit of stout, doing a little bit of knitting and yeah, doing a lot of writing.

Because it’s still November, so I’m writing and blogging all week! No Failpost November is still goin’ down! 4 more posts to go! Act IV of Meadowlark II will be posted on Friday, too! It’s all happening this week, Dear Reader! I’m focused! Feel the groove… be the groove…

I’ll be writing my usual special Thanksgiving post on Wednesday, with some exclusive pictures from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture down in New York City. They are hosting a wonderful exhibit on Black Suburbia that I hope you’ll consider visiting. I’ll tell you up front that I haven’t visited the exhibit, nor is the Center paying me to write about it. They reached out and I answered because I’m excited about the work that they do and this topic fascinates me. I hope you’ll pop back in on Wednesday! I’ll also be here for Quiet Thoughts on Friday… on what, I don’t know. The virtues of duck instead of turkey on Thanksgiving? Hmmm…

Since we’re on this topic, I’ll briefly say that I’ve been contacted by a few organizations about sponsored content lately and you’ll notice I haven’t posted anything sort of thing like that here. Most of the stuff has been for… less than stellar stuff. Stuff that I wouldn’t buy, stuff that I wouldn’t recommend to others, stuff I’d scowl at if I saw it at a friend’s house. Or it’s been from stores where I don’t normally shop and when I do, I don’t have a pleasant time. I never got into blogging with the intent of making money, but I also haven’t made my preschool bills a secret. 🙂  I’m open to the idea of writing sponsored content for this blog, but only in a very specific way, in a way that makes sense, and in a way that doesn’t alienate you, Dear Reader. So if I write sponsored content in the future (nothing is imminent), it will be posted only on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and I will keep my regular m/w/f schedule), it will be specifically labeled, and it will only be for stuff that I know and love. No junk, no crap.

But like I said, nothing is imminent. It’s just where I stand. Those of you have been with me for a long time know that I’m thoughtful. I’m a thoughtful overthinker. Overthinking thoughter… you get it. 🙂

And with that, I’m off to go shopping. I’ve brokered a deal with mom and I’m able to get those Kid’s Kindles for the boys. The best part? They went down from $99 to $84! Isn’t that fantastic?

The hunt is on! May the odds be ever in your favor, Dear Reader!

See you Wednesday!
